• Welcome to a “Soundscape of London” – a sound map of the city of London, U.K. Our map is a bit different from other maps with which you may be familiar. What you will find is an alternative experience of London, a site which allows you to hear rather than see the city.

• To use the site, click on the icons on the satellite image of London. This will take you to a web page, blank except for a sound clip which will play automatically, or on some machines, you may have to click play to hear the sound. Following this, you will be taken to a page that identifies the sound you’ve heard and places it in the context of our broader project. On this page you can listen to the sound again.

• To navigate the site, use the forward and backward buttons. This icon: will take you back to the homepage.

• To find out about the project more broadly, click on the arrow on the right to return to the homepage, and explore the links on the left hand side.
