Jay Mistry is a senior lecturer in Physical Geography in the Geography Department of Royal Holloway, University of London. Her current work is looking at ways of linking local livelihoods with biodiversity conservation in the Rupununi savannas of Guyana and in the use of participatory video for empowering local communities to take action about their natural resource management issues. She is also concerned with fire management in tropical savannas, particularly decision-making for fire use and indigenous and traditional fire management in the cerrado of Brazil.
