Xingmin Meng is a GDB and GIS Manager in the Department of Geography. His main responsibilities include teaching Environmental Hazards, GIS, Remote Sensing for both postgraduate and undergraduate students; coordinating GG1011/2/3 course; and supervising PhD students. In 2007, he has received Royal Holloway teaching award.
He attended the Xian Geological College (now Chang-an University), China, and got BSc degree in Geology. He received his PhD in the Department of Geography, Royal Holloway, University of London. His thesis is on loess and geohazards in North China.
He worked on several major international collaborative research programmes on geohazards and climate change in Northern China, financed by the Commission of the European Communities and the Government of Gansu. He has also held the positions of Postgraduate Research Assistant and Postdoctoral Research Fellow in several NERC-funded research programmes in both the University of Leicester and the University of London (Royal Holloway), as well as Research Fellow under a grant from the Leverhulme Trust.
