The Department has the following awards to offer for postgraduate study in 2011. For all awards interested applicants should get in touch with potential supervisors and apply for a PhD place by March 11th 2011.
One AHRC block grant award in the area of archaeology with a focus on early human occupation. This pays full UK/EU fees and maintenance for three years.
One Royal Holloway Studentship, in the form of one HEU fees award combined with a College Maintenance award (covering UK/EU fees and at least £6000 annual bursary for three years). Two Crossland Scholarship (combined with HEU fees award). These are awards which pay all UK/EU fees and at least £5000 maintenance over three years. They can be used by HEU or overseas students. One Overseas Top-Up Award which pays £9000 a year towards fees and may be topped up to pay all fees for an overseas (non EU) student. These are attached to specific areas that are detailed here.
UK and EU students are also eligible to apply for ESRC quota awards attached to the South-East England Doctoral Training Centre (on both a 1+3 and +3 basis). These are for any project in the areas of Human Geography and Energy, Environment and Resilience. These pay full fees plus a substantial maintenance award.
